“I am Bruce Hill from Victoria, Texas. I have an ice machine that I run under the name of Cinco Union LLC. It’s on the parking lot at 1502 in front of the Mr. Payroll Check Cashing business which I own.
I grew up on a farm in West Texas and moved here 20 years ago, started in crop insurance, and I have been in that ever since and running this crop insurance business. And then decided to get into the ice business and so I started looking around and called several different manufacturers of ice machines. Wound up being able to talk with Matt for quite some time and then we looked at used ones and I just decided I had worked on equipment all my life. I’m used to equipment and I was not going to start with a used one so I jumped in and bought a new one to be able to learn it instead of working on it from day one. All in all, it’s been pretty good. I’m just coming off of my record month.
Main reason that I went with Kooler ice was that, one is Matt was just very informative, very helpful. Needless to say, most of the other companies never even called me back. There was the one that did and pursued my business but the expense of the machines just far greater than what Kooler Ice was, so I just decided I’d go with Kooler Ice. The staff at Kooler Ice have been really helpful and worked with me in every way and after Matt introduced me to Donnie, my sales rep for this area, it has been great. Donnie’s been wonderful to work with and I have enjoyed it very much.
One of the things that I do like about the Kooler Ice machine is the ice. I have the app on my phone as well as the website on my computer, but it’s really good to know that it’s working for me whenever I’m not there.
One of the most important things to look at, in my opinion, whenever you get an ice machine business is looking at the machines, look at the different ones, go and look at ones that are working. Go talk to the people that are working, whether it be Kooler Ice or some other brand. But then the next thing is, is customer service. Make sure that the customer service has been good for the person that owns their ice machine, but then find a location. That location is key.
I am glad that I got into the ice vending business. It has been challenging but at the same time, it’s been rewarding. I am glad that I am with Kooler Ice. I have no experience with anybody else so I can’t compare. But I do know that Tommy and Cleveland has always been real good about helping me out whenever I call. I call Donnie, any time day or night. I know I’ve woke him up several times and he’s probably upset with me over that, but I have always liked the idea that I have somebody I can talk to at all times.”
